The merging of two great clubs. Lane Cove Rugby Club & Old Ignatians Rugby Football Club.

Lane Cove & Old Ignatians have a combined history dating back to 1949, which includes a total of 49 premierships.

We currently compete in Division 3 of the NSW Suburban Rugby Union Competition, fielding 3 Open Mens Grade & 1 U21 Colts teams.

Training is once a week- Thursday nights at Tantallon Oval, starting at 6:45pm.

Pre-season officially kicks off this weekend 🔴🟡🔵 but before we get stuck in, it’s worth looking back at what was an unforgettable start to 2026.

In February, 18 brave Redmen took on the streets of Thailand for LCOI’s inaugural overseas tour, competing in the Bangkok 10s. With 40+ teams from around the world, it was a true celebration of rugby as a global game. As a cherry on top, LCOI won the coveted Teacup trophy! ☕️🏆

A massive thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising efforts together we raised over $2,500 for @naksuurugby, an incredible charity working to protect and support at-risk children in local communities.

After the tournament, the boys headed to Phuket for some well-earned R&R… stories to stay on tour 🤝

📣 Updated Pre Season Schedule📣

Please note some slight changes have occurred to our preseason schedule after a rejig of season dates.

With our Bangkok tourists all back in one piece, pre-season tour number 2 is occurring this weekend as we send a squad out for the inaugural Mudgee Tens tournament.

Full club trials kick off next Saturday, as we host Rouse Hill Renegades & Sydney Harlequins at Tantallon. Following this, we head to Leichhardt oval no. 2 on March 28th to take on Balmain & Old Barker, with R1 of the season to occur on April 11th.

Get to training at Fortress Tantallon if you’re keen to dust the boots off- 6:45pm Thursday nights.

Boots are back! Joggers are no longer required on the oval.

With only a month to go before our first official fixture, the excitement around Tantallon is palpable.

To continue our run of pre-season events, we will be sending a squad out to the Central West to compete in the Mudgee Tens this Saturday, in what will be the club’s second preseason tour of the year.

With full club trials commencing next week, now is the time to strap on the boots and get down to Tantallon!

We are in full swing at Tantallon, with trial matches just around the corner and R1 just over a month away.

Note that the announcement of our 2026 Club Leadership group has been rescheduled to occur post tomorrow’s session, due to the inclement weather last week. Beer and pizza will be provided in the clubhouse post training. See you there!

LCOI training continues this Thursday, 6:45pm as we build momentum and lay the foundations for a strong 2026 campaign.

Following the session, we’ll be announcing our 2026 Club Leadership Group, with pizza and beers provided in the clubhouse for our players.

Make sure you get to Tantallon to see who will be leading Lane Cove Old Ignatians forward this season.

THAILAND TOUR 🚨🚨📣📣🇹🇭

As part of this year’s pre-season schedule, 18 players will be travelling to Thailand to take part in the inaugural invitational Lane Cove Redmen Tour.

During the tour, the boys will take on Thailand and also compete in the Bangkok 10s Rugby Tournament. The tournament hosts teams from across the globe and is a true celebration of rugby and its ability to bring people and cultures together.

Importantly, the Bangkok 10s is a non-for-profit tournament, with all proceeds going directly to @naksuurugby Academy charity program.

The touring team is raising funds to support Nak Suu Rugby Academy — an incredible organisation that empowers underprivileged children through education, community, and rugby. Their work makes a genuine difference in the lives of young people who may not otherwise have access to these opportunities.

With the incredibly sad news of the passing of Johannes, our thoughts and support are with the Logan family. His father Andrew was a former player and club captain at the Old Ignatians Rugby Club and continues to support the club today. 2025 LCOIRFC Award Winners 📣
We recently celebrated the special achievements of our club members throughout the 2025 season at our Presentation Night. It was fantastic to see so many awards received by players who were new to the club this season, with many trophies awarded in honour of club legends from both Old Ignatians and Lane Cove.
Additional recognition was achieved by Stefan Wood and Isaac Bissell, with selection in the NSW Subbies Colts Representative side.
Plans are already underway for season 2026- get on board!

Tomorrow is a huge day for LCOIRFC, with two of our sides heading to Forshaw Park to playing in their Grand Finals!

Two cracking games are set to play out with Colts taking on Knox for the Nicholson Cup in a rematch of the 2024 GF & 2nd Grade (‘The People’s XV’) playing a strong Hills side to contest the Farrant Cup.

We look forward to seeing a big crowd filling the stands in LCOI colours to bring the boys home. For those unable to make it to the ground, both games will be streamed via NSWRugbyTV.com.au

Once games wrap up, we will head back to the Diddy for our GF afterparty, with all friends, family & supporters welcome!

The boys are pumped to take the field in tomorrow’s playoffs after a solid week of training.
Colties are taking on a tidy Barker side who they have been evenly matched with throughout the season.
2nd Grade (aka the People’s XV) will be taking on a physical Blacktown side, in what promises to be another cracking match.

Colts and Second grade have both progressed through to the semis and will be playing Old Barker (Colts) and Blacktown (2’s) this Saturday. Mixed results for the last round of the regular season, with First grade and Colts picking up tidy wins. 3rd grade unfortunately lost their semi final which knocks them out of the Halligan cup after a great season. Player of the round goes to Anthony Hilliar who received 3 points from the ref in 1st grade’s win.

We now turn our attention to 2nd grade and Colts semi final fixtures this Saturday at Eric Tweedale stadium. We look forward to seeing a healthy contingent of LCOI supporters in the stands!

Check out how our Halligan cup side is shaping up for tomorrow’s semi final! The team is a mix of youth and experience has had a stellar season so far with some great wins- a fantastic example of the healthy numbers LCOIRFC has seen this season, having subs to burn every game.

Some statement wins for Colts, 2’s and 3’s on what was another great arvo at Tantallon as we celebrated Heritage Round, with 1st grade unfortunately falling just short of making it 4/4 wins for the day. Player of the round goes to Ollie Thorne who swan dove magnificently into his first try in seven seasons!

We now have a bye, before taking on Beecroft on the road next weekend.

Huge day at Tantallon tomorrow for LCOIRFC Heritage Round, with all grades playing a home game. First grade will be playing in our new Lane Cove inspired heritage jerseys for this week (pictured). We look forward to seeing old boys from OIRFC and LCRUFC on the sidelines, as well as back at the Diddy where we will be watching the second test!

Ahead of Heritage Round this weekend, we’ve dug into the archives to celebrate two legendary moments in our club’s story: Old Iggies’ 2002 Kentwell Cup premiership 🏆 and Lane Cove’s 1968 Kentwell Cup champions 🏉. It’s fantastic to see some of these faces still active around the club as Lane Cove and Old Iggies continue forging the next chapter together. We hope to see old boys of both clubs from all era’s on the sidelines at Tantallon to see us take on Hornsby this weekend, as well as back at the Diddy for a drink as we watch the Wallabies take on the Lions.

A fantastic afternoon of rugby was played at Knox no. 1 field on Saturday. 1st grade continued to impress, picking up a BP win over a Knox side placed higher on the ladder. Colts achieving the same outcome, setting the scene for an exciting run at finals. Unfortunately 2’s were slightly edged out in a low scoring encounter, with 3rd grade going down to Old Barker’s grade squad in their Halligan cup match.
Player of the round goes to Anthony Hilliar for his Fraser McReight impression, winning multiple pilfers in first grade.

Lane Cove Old Ignatians’ RFC Heritage Round
This Saturday, we come together to celebrate the proud history of two great clubs — Lane Cove and Old Iggies— now united as LCOIRFC. Heritage Round is a chance to honour the players, coaches, volunteers, and supporters who have built the legacy we carry forward today.
We invite all current and former players to Tantallon Oval as LCOIRFC takes on Hornsby for our R13 fixture. The day will be kicked off by 3rd grade playing their Halligan cup match, bookended by First Grade who are taking the field in traditional Lane Cove white and blue jerseys, paying tribute to the original jerseys that were worn for decades at Tantallon.
After the final whistle, we’ll head to The Diddy to watch the Wallabies v British & Irish Lions – Second Test and continue the celebration.

The Reddies are back on the road tomorrow, taking on Knox at Knox Grammar School #1 Field in what promises be a competitive afternoon of rugby across the grades. To kick the day off, our Halligan Cup team look to continue their strong run of form Old Barker’s Grade side at Headen Park, Thornleigh- 10:45am KO.

Post First Grade, we will be heading back to the Diddy to watch the first Wallabies v Lions test. All members of the LCOIRFC Community are welcome to join us. See you there!

Some cracking matches took place at Tantallon on Saturday. Unfortunately First grade went down in the dying stages in what was a high scoring affair against a now first placed Hills side, with Second grade putting up a strong fight against an undefeated outfit but falling short after a second half comeback. Colts enjoyed testing some new combinations and positions in a friendly against Lindfield’s 5th grade side after a forfeit from their scheduled opposition, with 3rd grade maintaining their ladder ranking in the Halligan Cup with a narrow win over Hills.

Player of the round goes to Oscar Churchwell who scored a brace for first grade.

Our focus now turns to our fixtures against Knox this week, playing on Knox Grammar School main field. All games are being played one hour earlier than usual due to the Wallabies Lions test.

The Redmen are back at Tantallon tomorrow for a big home round.

1st Grade are set for a tight contest against a strong Hills outfit.
2nd Grade welcome back some key players for a top-of-the-table 1 v 2 clash.
3rd Grade take on 4th-placed Hills in another important matchup.
Colts will face Lindfield 5s in a friendly after a forfeit from their scheduled opposition.

Post-game beers at the clubhouse, then we’re heading to the Longy to watch the ANZACs take on the Lions.

R10 team of the week 📣

Fantastic club effort on Saturday with our players rallying and backing up to ensure we could field all four grades on a day where numbers were stretched. Some tough results in the lower grades, with 1st grade showing a lot of composure and grit to pick up a win in a bruising encounter. Player of the round goes to Alex Harvey who backed up to make his 1st grade debut and had a blinder off the boot. We have this Saturday off before taking on Hills back at Tantallon in a double points round.

Promoting Senior Rugby in Lane Cove

To promote rugby in Lane Cove & Respect the traditions and histories of both clubs

Our common objective is to promote rugby within the Lane Cove Community whilst respecting the traditions of both clubs, which in the case of Old Ignatians’ is our close ties to St Ignatius College. Our home ground at Tantallon Oval is a perfect location connecting Riverview and the broader Lane Cove community.

Tantallon has recently had a new clubhouse, dressing sheds, storage, canteen & bar facilities installed, which provides a great opportunity for us to host sideline events and create a more hospitable post-match experience for the players and supporters.

RESPECT

Respect for your club, supporters, sponsors and Lane Cove Community
Respect for the opposition, officials and NSW Subbies.
Play by the Rules.
Never argue with an official. If you disagree, have your captain, coach or manager approach the official during a break or after the competition.
Control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials and sledging other players, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent are not acceptable or permitted behaviour in any sports
Work equally hard for yourself and/or your team. Your team’s performance will benefit, so will you.
Be a good sport. Applaud all good plays whether they are made by your team or the opposition.
Treat all participants as you would like to be treated. Do not bully or take unfair advantage of another competitor.
Cooperate with your coach, team-mates and opponents. Without them there would be no competition.
Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
Treat all equipment provided by the Club with care, respect and application of a fair use for all.
Return all equipment to LCOIRFC Equipment Shed at the completion of use, or directly to the hands of the next team who will be using the equipment. If you are the last team training or playing on the grounds it is your responsibility to ensure that all equipment is returned to LCOIRFC Equipment Shed and the Shed is locked up securely.
